SoftKinetic has now reformed following a merger between SoftKinetic & Optrima. SoftKinetic was founded in July 2007 following five years of R&D by an expert team of mathematicians, 3D imaging specialists, software engineers & game enthusiasts, with the objective of revolutionizing the way people interact with digital content and interfaces.

Anticipating the commercial availability of affordable 3D depth-sensing cameras, SoftKinetic is today the leading provider of a 3D middleware platform that lets content & video game developers, arcade & fitness equipment manufacturers and serious games experts develop their next generation interactive solutions.

Since 2007, SoftKinetic has enjoyed significant success as a business, growing steadily and building an impressive client list. With sales that have continued to increase year on year, SoftKinetic is truly an entrepreneurial success story.

January 2008

Company founders Eric Krzeslo, Xavier Baele and Gilles Pinault were joined by CEO Michel Tombroff

January 2009

SoftKinetic was joined by COO Frederic Papeians.

September 2009

SoftKinetic established SoftKinetic Studios, a wholly-owned subsidiary focused exclusively on designing and developing video games, interactive content and natural user interfaces using iisu & 3D cameras.

September 2010

SoftKinetic established a strategic partnership with Optrima, a leading developer of Time Of Flight cameras and sensors.

January 2011

At the CES2011 in Las Vegas, the group began communicating under one single baseline: "The Interface Is You".

February 2011

SoftKinetic completed round B funding of 11M EUR.

March 2011

At GDC San Francisco and CeBIT Hannover, SoftKinetic appeared as a single entity offering end-to-end solutions:

  • Hardware: DepthSense™ Product Family - formerly known as Optrima & OptriCam.
  • Middleware: iisu™ and tools.
  • Content: Games & Applications by SoftKinetic Studios.
