SoftKinetic™, the leading developer of end-to-end gesture recognition solutions, has today launched the commercial release of iisu™ 3.0, the latest iteration of its award-winning 3D gesture recognition middleware. This new version of iisu includes enhancements and new features that allow developers to create engaging 3D, gesture controlled games and applications in record time across multiple platforms.During a launch event at Beijing’s Ullens Center for Contemporary Art yesterday, SoftKinetic presented live demonstrations of iisu 3.0 gesture recognition technology in action, as well as best practices for developing on the iisu platform. The company has also launched its Content Partner Program, helping to provide developers interested in exploring the possibilities of SoftKinetic’s technology with support, resources, and best practices.

iisu 3.0 is a revelation in terms of how it can speed up the development of 3D gesture recognition games and applications,” said Eric Krzeslo, chief strategy officer of SoftKinetic. “With this release, developers can create some of the world’s most innovative, engaging, and immersive 3D experiences in a short amount of time. The Chinese development community has today embraced this technology and we look forward to seeing the creative applications that will be built using iisu 3.0.

New features and enhancements in iisu 3.0 include:

  • New gesture library – iisu’s new gesture library allows game designers and technical artists to kick-start their apps in record time by simply dragging and dropping desired sets of gestures.
  • Ease of integration – iisu is available in developers’ favorite environments, from Flash to Unity3D to C++ , C and C#.
  • Skeleton tracking – Full skeleton tracking is now available in the free version of iisu for the first time.
  • New iisu toolbox – iisu’s new toolbox provides access to live data and performance analytics during development.
  • Day one productivity – Thanks to a large library of samples, developers will be up and running with iisu in record time.

We have recently benchmarked all available gesture middleware to prepare a consumer version of our professional golf training application and iisu 3.0 clearly stands out of the competition”, said Sebastien Wulf, CEO of guru training systems. “The key arguments for us with our new development were the performance of the skeleton tracking at 60 frames per second, the new productivity features and the simplicity of the SoftKinetic business model. We are looking forward to using iisu 3.0 to the next level as we extend our application to the consumer space”.

SoftKinetic offers hardware, middleware, and applications that can be built once and deployed on any 3D sensor. With a highly optimized CPU footprint, SoftKinetic’s solutions are perfect for embedded platforms, as well as personal computers, consoles, set-top boxes, and smart TVs. Combined with world-class support, SoftKinetic is the leader in gesture recognition offerings.
