Akihiro Hasegawa, CEO



Akihiro brings more than 30 years of high-tech management experience within Sony. Prior to his current role, Akihiro was the senior general manager of the sales and marketing division of Sony’s medical business unit. Akihiro has been a vice president of Sony Corporation since June 2011. He held additional general manager and president positions both in Japan and in the US in the display, computer, electronic components and solutions business units.





Frédéric joined SoftKinetic from Hochschild Mining plc in London, UK. Before then, he spent 15 years at Alcatel (now Alcatel-Lucent) where he held a number of management positions. From 2000 to 2006, he was VP of Sales & Marketing Europe & South (Europe, Middle East, Africa, India and South America) at Alcatel’s headquarters in Paris, France. His previous role was in Antwerp as Manager of Marketing and Business Development for Northern Europe. From 1995 to 1998, as Deputy General Manager and Member of the Board of Directors, Frédéric started up the alternative telecom operator Metrolel in Barranquilla, Colombia. Frederic first joined Alcatel in 1989 as a Sales Manager for Singapore and Australia. He received a Master in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Brussels and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Fulbright Scholar.



Eric has been a 3D enthusiast for more than 15 years and has managed SoftKinetic’s development work since 2003. Before starting SoftKinetic, he was a founding member of 72dpi, a developer of 3D technologies for the communication industry including the web, broadcast and live interactive experiences. Before that he started CMyK, a provider of high-end 3D simulations and CAD software. At the beginning of his career, Eric launched the 3D modeling and rendering studios for Belgium's most famous architectural firm. Eric graduated from the Victor Horta Architecture Institute in Brussels.



Daniël co-founded SoftKinetic Sensors in 2009 and holds an engineering degree in electronics from the VUB (Free University of Brussels). He is inventor on multiple patents and the author of several scientific papers. In 2009, he obtained a PhD degree on the subject of CMOS circuits and devices for 3D time-of-flight imagers. His primary focus is to make effective 3D sensing solutions a reality in many domains. Since 2011 he is the CTO of the SoftKinetic group and manages the technology and engineering roadmaps.



Marc joined SoftKinetic in 2010, with more than 25 years’ experience in systems-on-chip product design and advanced research. Marc holds a Master in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Micro-Electronics, from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. After graduating, he worked as a researcher at IMEC (Inter-university Microelectronics Center, Leuven) on advanced design methodologies for integrated circuits and systems-on-chip. He joined the product design division of Alcatel Microelectronics (acquired later by ST Microelectronics and ST-Ericsson), where he held various technical and senior management positions in digital design, system validation, and advanced technical customer support. His interest has always been to combine advanced product development in an industrial environment with new system design techniques and methodologies. At SoftKinetic, he is now responsible for the development of SoftKinetic’s time-of-flight DepthSense® sensors, cameras with drivers, and iisu® middleware.


MITCH REIFEL, VP Marketing & Business Development

Mitch joined SoftKinetic in 2011. He started his career at Texas Instruments (TI) in 1989 and for the next 24 years built a career in high-tech sales and marketing. After nearly a decade at TI, Mitch took on executive sales and business development roles at Conexant, Samsung, and digital imaging start-up, Y Media. Most recently Mitch managed the licensing of Digital Optics' imaging and optics portfolio, closing multiple deals with cellphone and consumer electronics manufacturers. Mitch has a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Rice University in Houston.
